Symmetrical Spiders

Students learned what symmetry is by creating symmetrical Halloween spiders. This project was very successful!  The students really enjoyed this project because they got to use X-Acto knives.
The hallway was really transformed after hanging the spiders from it!!

Viewing Art Elements

Students were introduced to the art elements by using clip on macro lens on their iPads . The lens are very inexpensive. They had to use the macro lens to capture each element. After taking pictures, further discussion about the art elements were discussed in the class. From there student took their images and created a collage using the Pic Collage app.  This was another great art lesson that I will be using in the future.

Y groups trip to Write NotePads and Co. www.writepads.com

The Y group made a trip to Write Notepads and Co. Before we went on the trip students made a linoleum block. Since our school's fall unit this year is Washington D.C., we decide to study currency how design is a major factor when creating money.
After carving the linoleum blocks at school, we made a field trip to Write Notepads and Co. At the studio students got a chance to learn how printing is done on the commercial side and also how custom printing is done.
